Since 1923 I had, with short interruptions, gone through much sickness. First of all, as the result of the grippe, my lungs were diseased. To this were added inflammation of the knee joint and a fallen arch. In the summer of 1925 all these came together. I was being treated by several physicians, and they diagnosed the following complaints: swelling of the glands, a slight case of appendicitis, a floating kidney on the right side, stomach and gallstone complaint, and heart disease; also, ruined nerves, very bad headaches, palpitation of the heart and shortness of breath, alternating with a sense of fear. The physicians did their utmost for me, prescribing all kinds of strengthening and soothing remedies; but I did not improve. A diet which I followed strictly was also of no avail. I was near desperation.
About the middle of November, 1925, in my greatest extremity, God sent me a dear friend, who called my attention to Christian Science and gave me the address of a practitioner. I asked him for treatment, and he took a kindly interest in me. After the second treatment I was able to take up my household duties again; and I improved day by day. Relatives and friends were very much surprised at my quick and wonderful healing. In December I was able to restore my little daughter to health several times by clinging to the truth, once when she was suffering from frozen feet, once from swollen glands, and a third time from colic. I have bought the book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and have found a great deal of comfort and help therein.
I am sincerely grateful to God that He, through Mrs. Eddy, has shown us the way to Truth; and I am also grateful to the practitioner who so lovingly helped me.
