Place

To all of us at some time has come an experience that involved a consideration of place; and if viewed with human opinion alone it must have seemed a baffling problem. Suspicion that another has our place, resentment that this is so, envy that he should have it, dim our consciousness with clouds of hatred, covetousness, and self-pity. In this mental state we wander about, and no solution of the problem presents itself. But what joy and hope come to one when he is presented with a solution of his problem through the study and application of Christian Science. The clouds of error disappear as the sunshine of God illumes his consciousness. As his thoughts change, his condition reflects this enlightened understanding; and he no longer seeks a place that is not his.

In one's study of the Bible one learns the teaching of our Master in regard to the establishment and maintenance of right place. Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you." In the light of this truth there can be no question as to who prepares the place: it must indeed be God-prepared. But divine Mind has already prepared it. One has only to relinquish his mortal beliefs and avail himself of God's guidance; then he will be led to his rightful place.

The so-called human will or mortal mind may think that by outlining the conditions desired it is hastening the achievement of its desire. The truth is that in the measure one clings to these selfish, limiting thoughts he is hindering his advancement to ultimate good, God. On page 480 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says, "Where the spirit of God is, and there is no place where God is not, evil becomes nothing,—the opposite of the something of Spirit." This, then, is the means of healing every wrong belief of an evil or wrong place—the gaining of the spirit of God, who must by His very nature include all place, for God is omnipresent.
