Calgary, Alberta, Canada (First Church).—The corner stone of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Calgary, now being built on the northeast corner of Fourteenth Avenue and Sixth Street West, has been laid. A service in connection therewith was opened with the reading of hymn No. 197, "The Mother's Evening Prayer," written by Mary Baker Eddy. The tenets of The Mother Church were then read, followed by silent prayer and the audible repetition of the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation as contained in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After the stone had been placed, the service concluded with a benediction and the repetition of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). The ceremony was very simple, in accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church, which reads (p. 60), "No large gathering of people nor display shall be allowed when laying the Corner Stone of a Church of Christ, Scientist."—Camrose Canadian.
