TRUST
In striving to know more of the truth in Christian Science, the word trust has come to mind many times. Before taking up the study of Christian Science, we may all think we know the meaning of trust, but do we? In looking up the definition of the word we find many given, but the following seems to me the best: "assured resting of the mind on the integrity, veracity, justice, or other sound principle of another." Where, then, should our trust be placed, if not upon God, who is divine Principle and embodies all truth, all integrity and justice?
While working on some problem which has presented itself to us, there may seem to be much to overcome, many obstacles to be removed; like the children of Israel at the Red sea, we may seem to be hemmed in on all sides; but if right there we stop to search our consciousness, we may detect wherein lies the error that has withheld from us the solution of our problem. Perhaps there has been a thought of how it would have to be brought about. We may have wondered in what way our release would come. Would not this very thought be a doubt of God's power to deliver us? Does God need our help to point out the way of deliverance? Our work is to have absolute trust that all things are possible to God; an assured resting of our minds in divine Principle; and if we put aside every doubt, never thinking how or when the deliverance is to come, but knowing that God's ways are not as our ways, we shall never fail to find our freedom.
Then, as we bow in silent gratitude and praise for His infinite, never-failing guidance and love, we realize in some degree what the psalmist meant when he said, "Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us."
