I wish to testify to an almost instantaneous healing of a very severely injured leg and a great mental shock. I was traveling alone in a Pullman car from Brighton to London, when, in that terrible accident which occurred at Stoats Nest, I was thrown suddenly with great violence across the car. The conductor with two gentlemen lifted me from the floor in a half-dazed condition, and later assisted me over to the station, where a young lady from my dictation sent a telegram to my husband, who was in Hove, asking him to treat me in Christian Science. I had been suffering intense pain, but all at once the pain ceased. This sudden change really startled me, and I asked my companion what time it was. The answer being given me, I knew that my husband had received my message, and that he was treating me. I found out later that this actually was the case.
The day following the accident (Sunday) I had arranged to meet my husband at Victoria station to attend the evening service at First Church, Sloane square, and this with the aid of a stick I was able to do. I am not a Christian Scientist, but am deeply interested, and this has been a very real experience to me. My gratitude is exceptionally great for the realization of what Christian Science is and what it can do.—K. M. Austin, Hove, Sussex, England.
I know Mr. and Mrs. Austin intimately, and I saw Mr. Austin the day of the accident, or the day after (I am not sure which). He told me his wife was in the railway accident at Stoats Nest, and he showed me the wire he had received, asking him to treat her, and told me she was to meet him and go to First Church, London, to the service. He said that he should know she would be able to be there just the same. Soon after Mrs. Austin's return to Hove I saw her, and she told me about the accident, also of the healing and what a great impression it had made upon her, and that she had met her husband at Victoria station and gone with him to church. She expressed great gratitude for the healing—Ellen Pierce, Hove, England.
