Those who are best acquainted with the teachings of...

Hopkinton (Ia.) Leader

Those who are best acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science know that instead of its being "vitiated with deadly and foolish error"—instead of its having a tendency to "make us the laughing-stock of the religious world"—the very opposite of these assertions is true. It must be recognized as a positive fact that the people known as Christian Scientists are intelligent people, good neighbors, and among the most highly respected citizens of the community. It must also be recognized that these people as citizens have their individual right to worship God in accordance with the dictates of their own conscience, and in this right they should be undisturbed and unmolested by those who may differ from them. There is absolutely nothing in the teachings of Christian Science that is in any degree inimical to the best interests of the individual or the community at large, and there is everything in its teachings which, if they are accepted and followed, would produce a higher, better, and more perfect condition, morally, physically, and spiritually, among the people than at present exists. These statements are entirely demonstrable. They stand out as obvious facts in the experience of all those who have embraced this teaching.
