I have been striving to practice the teachings of Christian Science for a number of years, and am very thankful for them, and for the wonderful way that this understanding opens up the Bible. Truly Science and Health is a "Key to the Scriptures."

I have been healed of asthma of long standing, rheumatism, fever, heart trouble, and other ills of the flesh. I find this truth to be an ever-present help, and the spiritual uplift that I have gained through this understanding far surpasses everything else. I wish especially to tell of the work which I was enabled to accomplish at an age when men are expected to retire from active life, and this was done through the understanding gained in Christian Science that God is our source of supply. When young I learned the machinist trade, worked at it a few years, and then went to farming and fruit-raising, at which I worked until I was over sixty years of age, when for reasons which it is not necessary to mention here, I came to this city and secured a place in a factory. It had been over thirty years since I had worked at my trade, and the materials to be worked and the tools to work with had changed very much during that time.

My first attempt was at a coarse repair work, but after a few months I removed to another place where the work was much better. The men working with me had been at the business for years, but they never knew that I had not been at work all the time. Several times men were laid off when work was slack and I would be retained. While I have not yet attained to the finer grades of work in a machine shop, I have been considered a good general workman, and have had some work to do which requires a good deal of skill. At one time the men were requested to work until nine o'clock in the evening, and at the end of the week I was the freshest man of the lot. Christian Science is a help to me every day of my life.
