Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch

Christian Science does not deal "purely with physical ills and their remedy." The principal aim and effect of Christian Science is to regenerate scientifically the individual, elevating him spiritually and morally. The physical benefits necessarily accompany this result, and are incidental thereto. A regeneration that omits the establishment of physical health is a poor substitute for the regeneration which was demonstrated by Jesus Christ, who confirmed his teaching by "signs following," healing the sick and commanding all his followers to do likewise. If our critic had made a moderately fair investigation of the effects of Christian Science, she would have found that those who have been healed physically by Christian Science, value their spiritual benefits even higher than the physical.
