When I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was an invalid and had been for several years, with a diseased condition of the bowels and stomach which had followed an attack of fever. I had physicians of all the different schools, including specialists and sanitarium treatment, but nothing seemed to check the disease, which was slowly affecting all the organs of my body. I had reached the point where dying seemed easier than living, as there appeared to be no hope of relief from my sufferings in any other way. One day a lady whom I knew but slightly asked about my health, and after telling her that I despaired of getting well, she asked me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and presented me with the book. I took it, and promised to read it, though I wondered what it could do for a person in my condition. I read the book, and in a few months was absolutely cured of that disease.

I was also cured of a severe case of rheumatic trouble, from which I had suffered for over seven years. I had tried everything in materia medica, as well as electricity, massage, etc., but had never received any permanent help therefrom. I had one week of treatment from a Christian Science practitioner for this complaint, and was healed, and I have never had any return of the disease. I also received a new understanding of God as ever-present, unchangeable, "the same Life, Love, and wisdom 'yesterday, and today, and forever'" (Science and Health, p. 283). I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy for bringing us this truth which heals the sick, an understanding of God as the Life and Mind of all real being.
