Jesus said, "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." For centuries many religious people have attempted to arrive at this condition of absolute faith, but usually have in a large degree failed in its accomplishment. Why? Apparently because they have believed God to be the author of evil as well as of good, and that the power of evil is almost if not quite equal to the power of God. Christian Science insists on the Bible teaching that God is infinite, the only power; that His power is always on the side of that which is right and good and harmonious; and that His opposite has no right to claim existence or reality.

With this perfect consciousness of infinite power and goodness, man can have an absolute faith that whatever is right and good will be accomplished through an intelligent and prayerful appeal to the divine Mind. This absolute faith, based on such a sure foundation, brings relief from pain, and causes an apparently diseased bodily condition to be changed into that which is well and whole. Christian Scientists understand this to be in accord with the words of Jesus: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
