THE CROWN OF DAVID'S LINE

BEN. HAWORTH-BOOTH

Know ye the noble crown of David's line,
Bearing the thirteen stars and sacred sign,—
(1, 2) The tribes of Jacob, and the vow divine;

The crown of sovereignty, whose flag unfurled The original American flag contained 13 stars (Manasseh's number), one star for each stripe .
And star-lit lamps illume a whelméd world,
Through clouds and chaos, and through thunders hurled?

It came with him, the princely pursuivant,
(3) The prophet-priest who came to build and plant
(4,5) The branch of David's line predominant.
