Mrs. Eddy is beloved by hundreds of thousands, becase through her exposition of Scripture they have come to understand and practise the Christ-method of healing, resulting in the elimination of sin and disease from their lives. For forty years she has preached the gospel through the medium of her published works, and in the estimation of the beneficiaries of her preaching, who best can judge, the practical results in the healing of all manner of sin and disease more than justify the price of the book Science and Health.

Furthermore, Mrs. Eddy's text-book on Christian Science is not, in any sense of the word, meant to be a "Bible" nor to supplant the Scriptures. It is what its name implies, a veritable "Key to the Scriptures," or a commentary on the Bible. Our critic uses commentaries in preparing his sermons, and Christian Scientists do the same, the only difference being that the Christian Scientists have found by experience that Mrs. Eddy's explanation of the Bible brings them the best results, and so they adhere thereto in their study of the Scriptures. They find the Bible made an open book in the light of Mrs. Eddy's writings, and so they love and study it more than they used to.
