Some years ago, when I was a beginner in Christian Science, one of my children was taken with a severe attack of bowel trouble. I felt I would rather have help in the case, as I had not demonstrated much in the way of healing, and my home at the time was full of guests. I wired to a Christian Science practitioner, simply asking for help, but not stating the disease, and saying, "Letter to follow." This was on a Saturday, and owing to Sunday intervening she could not get my letter till Monday.
Several people in the house, notably one lady who had had a large family of children, were greatly distressed over the child's condition, and said he should have special feeding, etc., but I made no difference and the child ate and drank what he liked. He did not take much, but apparently did not suffer any pain,—only slight discomfort,—and knowing that the practitioner was treating him (having got a reply from her), I was confident all would be well. By the Monday morning, almost as soon as the Scientist had received the letter stating the ailment, she got a wire from me, saying, "Child practically well." And there was never any return of the disease. For this demonstration of Truth's power I am deeply grateful.
