Christian Science is based upon the word of God as given in the Bible and as explained in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The effort of every Christian Scientist is to live and practise Jesus' teachings in their completeness. In this there is "no evasion of truth," but the steadfast endeavor daily to live that life and to manifest only those qualities which are consistent with true Christianity. There are certain things which Christian Science has accomplished which in and of themselves constitute sufficient proof of its essential Christianity. Through its divine ministrations hundreds of thousands of people have been healed of serious and in many cases seemingly hopeless illness. Not only has this word of Truth brought physical healing to these people, but what is vastly more important, it has given them hope, faith, and confidence in God; it has purified and elevated their characters; it has reformed the sinner, redeemed those who were under the bondage of vicious appetites and false pleasures, and has brought joy and peace into homes that formerly were under the burden of despair.

Christian Science presents abundant and incontestable evidence in support of its inestimable value to humanity, and in the face of its proofs it is vain and foolish for any one to attempt to belittle its God-given mission. In considering Christian Science from the view-point of popular theology, our critic assumes the attitude of the man who looked at a white object through green glasses. The trouble was not with the object but with the glasses. Viewed from an unbiased standpoint, without prejudice and misconception or the bias of educated formalism and the narrowness of creed and dogma, Christian Science is found to be eminently Christian, a satisfactory and practical religion.
