Calumny, abuse, and baseless accusations were hurled at those who nineteen hundred years ago obeyed and practised the teachings of the "great Physician" and the greatest metaphysician the world has ever seen. Today abuse is again hurled at those who are striving to prove that what the Master said is true now as then. Through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science text-book, Science and Health, men and women are being healed daily of all kinds of diseases, organic as well as functional, frequently after having received the verdict "incurable" from medical practitioners. Such results could not occur were the behavior of Christian Scientists such as is stated by our critic.

If the teachings of Christian Science were anything but true, they could not stand, and they would fall of their own weight. In this connection it will be advisable to profit by the advice of that "doctor of the law" who said, "If this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: but if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it." The great Teacher said also, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
