Christ Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." For many years I had been earnestly seeking for the true origin of man. I had been a sincere worker in both church and Sunday School, always a student of any and all writers who had good to give to the world, yet I had only reached a point of much dissatisfaction. My life seemed a failure, although I had all that was necessary to make me happy, but I was most miserable.

At this time, having heard somewhat of Christian Science, I began the study of the Bible, together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. During this study I was healed of severe headaches and a bowel disorder. I began to understand and see life in an entirely different light. I therefore began to devote my time and thought to the demonstraton of this healing truth taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus. For six years I enjoyed perfect health and harmony, but after the birth of our son I was seized with an illness—called an abnormal growth, with other complications. The healing of this trouble was very slow, covering a period of over two years and a half. At time I could not raise my foot from the floor without pain.

Through the kind help of Christian Science practitioners, I was never absent from church on this account, nor compelled to discontinue any of my regular duties, knowing, as I could not help but know, that "patience must have her perfect work," and that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, pp. 454, 494). It was but the consuming of the dross and the refining of the gold. About this time we planned a trip to the Kootenai mountains for two weeks. Among those beauties of nature, and while earnestly working for another's good, my books became my only companions. In this uplifting thought and necessary consecration my own healing was completed.
