LETTERS TO OUR LEADER

Boston, Mass., Oct. 17, 1908. Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, 384 Beacon St.,

Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Beloved Leader and Teacher :—I rejoice rejoice that the daily newspaper, announced in the Sentinel, is to be placed before the world. The need of this paper has been long felt by those whose thoughts are reaching out for higher intellectual and spiritual things. The good, not the bad, should be chronicled in every nation and land, so that the world will be educated to be good. Parents will feel that their children may read the Monitor, and not have their young and impressionable thoughts attacked by the debasing images too often portrayed in some of the daily papers. I believe that the establishment of this paper will be the voice of a reformer in newspaper policies. I know that this effort will appeal to many outside the ranks of Christian Science; those kind, loving, tolerant, and God-fearing people who desire to think rightly and to act rightly, and in justice to all men. It is your labor that has made this paper possible, and the world is again indebted to you for your fearless and prayerful work in behalf of humanity.
