Christian Science is to me an ever-present help
Christian Science is to me an ever-present help. It is a rod and a staff, with the aid of which I am ascending the path of life and overcoming the discords of sense, and I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for the spiritual understanding I am attaining through the study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am a traveling salesman, and the success with which I have met in business, since coming into Christian Science, is scarcely conceivable by any save Scientists. Notwithstanding the so-called money panic, my business is very good. It is even better than last year, and I attribute this fact to my knowledge of Christian Science, wherein I learn that divine Principle governs all things harmoniously; and because all honest business belongs to God, it must be and in reality is always good. I have also learned that there is never failure, but always success in divine Love, whose supply for human need is ever abundant. Our privilege and duty is to realize that business is not governed by the laws of mortal belief but wholly by the law of divine Mind. "In Science, divine Love alone governs man" (Manual, p. 40), and man, reflecting divine Love, knows no lack.
I have had many physical healings since coming into Christian Science, and many of these demonstrations have been made without the aid of a practitioner. One ailment from which I suffered had required two months of medical attention before I got relief, and then I was not entirely cured, for after a time I had a return of the same trouble; but for the next attack I had Christian Science treatment, and in three weeks I was entirely healed. Within the past three years I have given up smoking and drinking as well as other vices, and for the freedom thus gained I am most thankful to God, the divine Principle of all real being, and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, who has revealed this truth to us.
