Years have passed since my sister and myself became convinced of the truth of Christian Science, and we have found therein satisfaction and help. I wish to relate an experience which I had five years ago. In calling on an acquaintance I tripped in going down-stairs, and fell down quite a high flight. My sister, who was with me, became frightened, and hastened to help me. I rose with difficulty, suffering severe pain, for I felt that my knee was badly hurt. As this occurred in Waldhausen, where we could not procure a carriage, I managed with my sister's assistance to reach the nearest street-car, and went to a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me treatment immediately.
After the second treatment the nervous chills vanished, and I felt better. I received absent treatment for two weeks; then I went to the practitioner and walked a long distance. No diagnosis was made, but I felt that my knee was seriously injured. My sister told me that it was terribly swollen and that she would have thought my condition critical had I been in the care of materia medica. I had present treatment for a few weeks longer, after which all pain and swelling vanished; I did not spare myself during the time, but attended to my household duties as before the occurrence, although I did this at first with difficulty. I am thankful to God for Christian Science, and that I was healed so soon.
