The religious world of Jesus' time, in the main rejected...
The religious world of Jesus' time, in the main rejected him, though he made main converts, some among the leaders and eminent men of his time. What he taught has continued to grow in the favor of men, until at the present time a very large part, including the most intelligent portion of the human race, has accepted him as the Founder of true religion, and in our favored land Jesus is accepted almost universally as the great Exemplar of divine requirements.
Our Lord was rejected mainly because his mission was misunderstood. It is not surprising, then, that Christian Science, the spiritual understanding which he demonstrated, should be rejected for the same reason. Jesus grew in favor with the religious world as his motive became understood. So Christian Science grows in its acceptability Christendom as its purpose becomes understood.
Primitive Christianity is no more in danger of being set aside through the discovery of Christian Science than the Ten Commandments were through the advent of Jesus. The Master declared: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law. or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." So Christian Science comes not to set aside Christianity but to fulfil its demands, to reveal such a clear understanding of the Principle and modus operandi of Christianity as to render it more practical and hasten the kingdom of God on earth.
