Williamsport (Pa.) Gazette and Bulletin

No one will dispute for a moment that the greatest need in the world to-day is for some such efficacious plan of moral and physical salvation as that which Christian Science offers. On every side we see great suffering and sorrow. Advocates of medicine have made noble effort to alleviate this, but have they succeeded in lessening disease to any great extent? Are not conditions in this respect as deplorable to-day as in the time of Jesus and the apostles? Is there not as great need of succor now as then?

It is upon this scene that Christian Science has made its entry, and with all the energy it can summon to its support it has called upon men and women to lift their eyes to higher things and seek in the contemplation of that which is spiritual and holy the much needed relief for mankind's ills.

It is no new thing to find opposition to this message from among the clergy and the medical fraternity, although many of its advocates have arisen from among their ranks. From the very outset Christian Science has had to prove its worth every step of the way Had it not been able to offer a reasonable return to those who sought its help, it would long since have fallen by reason of its own inadequacy. As a matter of fact, however, it has grown with rapid strides in every community in which it has been established, thereby showing its ability to fulfil all of its promise in "good measure, pressed down, . . . and running over."
