About five years ago Christian Science was introduced to me by my nephew, who came to England on a visit from the United States. At first I could not accept it, because I was so steeped in scholastic theology and materia medica. I was, however, so impressed by his earnestness and willingness to help me that after a time I invited him to bring some of the literature to my home. After hearing some of the Lesson-Sermons the truth became clearer to my thought. I obtained a copy of Science and Health, and subscribed for our periodicals. One trouble after another was then destroyed, —ills that come in the old thought to one who has reached three score years and ten. To-day I am strong and vigorous. Christian Science has indeed given me, in the language of the Bible, "beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness."
As soon as the meaning of dear Mrs. Eddy's discovery dawned upon my thought I began to feel the benefit,— physically, mentally, spiritually. For many years I had felt a desire to know the truth. Since it came to me I removed to London to reside, and have enjoyed the privilege of joining the church. These steps have all been a help to me, and I am thankful to our Leader for pointing the way.
MRS. LAURA SPOOR, London, England.
