It is with sincere gratitude that I tell what Science has...
It is with sincere gratitude that I tell what Science has done for me. Five years ago I had an operation performed for cancer of the breast. The surgeon assured me that there would be no return of the disease, but less than a year the trouble developed again and another operation had to be undergone. I then felt sure that every particle of diseased tissue was taken away and the doctor again assured me that there would be no further trouble, In a little over two years' time, however, it made a third appearance. In the mean time, I had heard of Christian Science and had seen some remarkable healings in my immediate family, but it was hard for me to decide upon making the trial for cancer—with my knowledge of this disease as regarded in materia medica. As a trained nurse, I knew that under medical treatment the knife would have to be resorted to, until the end of my sojourn here, so I finally decided to see a Christian Science practitioner.
The intense fear was destroyed in several treatments; the pain or dull ache, from shoulder to elbow, was completely destroyed in a week's treatment; and after five weeks of faithful work by the practitioner the growth was entirely gone; I knew not where at the time, but in my study of this blessed truth, given to us by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I now know it returned to its native nothingness. Instead of worrying about heredity and my human ancestry, I can now look to God, in whom is man's being, and know that "the beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry" (Science and Health, p. 63).
Thanks be to God, and to our Leader, who has worked so faithfully and lovingly in the cause of humanity, making it possible for every one to grasp this truth, and by it bring out harmony here and now. This healing has awakened in my consciousness a deeper sense of reverence and love for our Master.—ELIZABETH J. GRIFFIN, Ridgewood, N. J.
