Letters to our Leader
Aberdeen, Wash., August 30, 1905.
Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, Author of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
My Dear Mrs. Eddy:— Seven years ago I was healed through the reading of Science and Health. Since then I have longed to tell you how much gratitude I have that there is in the world a volume the reading of which dispels and destroys disease. Such a restoration to health has been my experience, and I am glad to bear testimony to the fact, not alone of the healing but of the permanency of it, as I have since enjoyed robust health. For several years I had suffered with many diseases and complications, chronic, acute, functional, organic, and hereditary, and during the last five years of this period I was slipping away quite rapidly. While some of my troubles were pronounced incurable, and it was generally understood that I would never be well again, I tried to keep hopeful, pinning my faith to drugs, hygiene, diet, air, and exercise, but there came a time when despair was in the ascendancy and the end appeared not far off.
