I began the study of Christian Science twelve years ago,...
I began the study of Christian Science twelve years ago, hoping to be healed of hereditary paralysis of long-standing, and was also anxious to learn how to read my Bible understandingly. From infancy I had been treated for extreme lameness. Electricity had been used, surgeons had operated on a crooked foot for drawn cords, and liniments had been applied to cause a better circulation, as the limb was cold and diminishing in size. It ached much of the time, and I had no control of the ankle. I used a brace that extended above the knee, with an ankle support inside the shoe. I also used a cane.
In 1893 I began the study of Christian Science, and had treatment. I soon laid aside the brace and cane, the limb became warm, and the aching was entirely overcome. My healing has been seemingly slow, but I know I gain strength as I gain spiritual understanding. For eight years I have lived on a cattle ranch in North Dakota, many miles from any Christian Scientist, and I find great comfort in the study of Christian Science. I offer heartfelt thanks to our dear Leader, also to the editors and contributors for the splendid literature that is placed within the reach of all, and may each one of us put into practice the truths taught therein. —Mrs. Carrie E. Goodall, Goodall, N.D.
