Twelve years ago I came from Ohio to the State of Washington, in ill health. I came here for a change of scene and business. I had been actively engaged in the practice of law in Ohio for fifteen years, and my ill health was said to have been brought about by overwork. After coming West I did not experience the improvement in health which I had hoped for, but on the contrary grew gradually worse. I seemed to be afflicted with a complication of diseases which baffled medical skill. About three years ago these culminated in nervous prostration, accompanied with severe and serious attacks of heart failure, which became more and more frequent and severe. Medical skill, electricity, osteopathy, and hygiene had been exhausted, and my condition had become desperate. Friends had advised me to take Christian Science treatment, but I was skeptical. However, one year ago, I determined to give it a trial. I experienced marked improvement after the first treatment, and am glad to say that I have not used a material remedy since taking my first treatment and am now fully restored to health. I am fifty-two years of age, and am stronger, better, and more vigorous than when I was forty years of age. It goes without saying that I owe an immense debt of gratitude of Christian Science.
S. S. Gardiner, Everett, Wash.
Before coming into Christian Science I suffered very much with my feet and limbs. They were so bad that I had to give up wearing boots, and then I could bear to have shoes on only a short time. On one occasion my doctor asked me if my legs felt numb. I thought at that time if they were cut off below the knees I would not have felt it, so great seemed my suffering. It was in this state that Christian Science found me. My work seemed very hard and life was most wretched, but after having a few weeks' treatment I soon began to feel like a new woman, and as the light of Truth began to dawn on my darkened sense I was freed from the bondage that had so long held me. I feel thankful to say that through Christian Science I have been made free indeed. I am glad for the rest that Christ, Truth, gives, and I am striving for the Mind to be in me that was also in Christ Jesus. My heart goes out in gratitude to God for His goodness, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her labor of love in bringing to us this great truth. I am also most thankful for the help I have received through the Sentinel and Journal.
