It is only a little over three months since I heard of Christian Science, but since then I have given it a great deal of study and have derived great pleasure and benefit therefrom. I had a remarkable demonstration lately which it may help others to know. Whilst using a pump containing a very powerful solution of lime and carbolic acid, the pipe got obstructed momentarily, and on unscrewing it, the contents were discharged into my eye with great force. The pain was intense. I went to my room and sought divine aid. I returned to my work, although in great pain, but was compelled to give up on completing the particular duty in hand. I went into the house again, and a lady who was there was very much frightened when she saw my eye, and wanted to telephone to my sister, twenty miles away, to come and help me; but I declined, as I felt that Truth had already delivered me from what might have caused me total blindness. After a very short time I returned to the lady, and told her that I was free from pain, and my eye showed very little indication of having sustained such an injury. Two hours later I showed the eye to a doctor, who rediculed the treatment and probably disbelieved my story, as he said that if such were the case I could not possible be out driving and have my eyesight. I trust that my experience may help other young students of Christian Science to know what they may expect if they trust in the omnipotence of God, as revealed in Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
