The Living Word
The Word of God accomplishes its purpose, it does not return void. Looking back to the days when I knew next to nothing of Christian Science, and had a most inadequate and erroneous conception of its teachings, I can now see that the occasional statements of truth made to me and in my hearing, took root in thought and were destined later to spring up in a conscious acceptance of their verity and authority.
In my time of need, when burdened with sorrow and uncertainty, the Word in Christian Science, which had been dropped incidentally into thought and supposedly lost, was vital enough to lead me to its further study to find there a Comforter that healed the sorrow, and a Principle that removed all uncertainty.
God's Word does not pass away, because it is of His own nature,—omnipotent and omnipresent. More faith in its power to heal will leave less room for the belief in unfruitful, barren soil. The Word is the seed within itself, which is growing on every side and is heard and seen of men, as the darkening, deadening material sense wears thin and transparent.
