When our son was ten years of...

When our son was ten years of age, conditions were such that I was obliged to face the future alone with sole responsibility for his care and education. At this time our house was mortgaged, there were debts to be paid, and the small income we had was wholly inadequate for even our most essential needs. Moreover, I was in bondage to a physical condition, which had persisted for years and often incapacitated me for weeks at a time.

The way seemed dark indeed, but through complete reliance on God, as revealed in Christian Science, our needs were met. Soon my son's health, disposition, and school-work improved. In recent years he has been enabled to go to college and to take a difficult engineering course. Our house was cleared of the mortgage, and we have twice been able to make the long and expensive trip across the continent to Boston for the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church. This was wonderfully helpful and inspiring. On the second occasion my son attended the meeting with me, as he had become a member of The Mother Church.

The healing of the physical condition referred to above was the most wonderful that I have ever had, although it seemed very slow. For a long time conditions appeared to become worse and worse in spite of much treatment from a number of Christian Science practitioner at different times. At times the suffering seemed unbearable.
