"Whatsoever things are lovely"

O weary searcher for reality,
Who knoweth not where peace is found,
Be still, and listen for the voice of Love;
Love telleth thee where all "these things" abound.

Art thou dismayed that honest things are scorned,
That men should seem so deaf, so blind?
Look to thyself, pray now thyself to see
God's likeness, which man is, in perfect Mind.

If thou hast suffered persecution, wrong,
Injustice for thy faith in right,
Love is thy staff, forgiveness is thy rod,
Thy God is just, in righteousness is might.

And hast thou longed for pure and lovely things?
Their virtue blesses now thy days;
Acknowledge Him, their true and only source;
To Him lift up thy grateful song of praise.

His tender care bestows upon thee all,
All comfort, heaven-sent and sure;
"Think on these things"—thy full abundance claim,
Thy peace in God, eternally secure.
