Importance of Right Thinking

Perceiving that experience is primarily mental and consists of receiving and manifesting mental impressions, we see the importance of right thinking. The quality of our thinking is shown in our actions, our condition, and our environment. Christian Science shows a sharp contrast between spiritual ideas, which originate in divine Mind, and false suggestions, which originate in mortal mind, so called, and lead into bondage.

In the first chapter of Genesis we are told that "God created man in his own image." Therefore man, who reflects God, expresses all the qualities of God, and is never in bondage or subject to this false mortal mind or any of its so-called laws, for God alone governs man. All are aware of the seeming bondage in which mankind is held through false belief, but not all are aware that this bondage can readily be destroyed through right scientific thinking, or knowing the truth about God and man, which is the only antidote for wrong thinking and its results.

As one gains an understanding of Truth through the study of Christian Science and makes it the basis of his thinking, he becomes obedient to the law of God; and as divine ideas unfold in his consciousness, he is able to utilize the power of right or spiritual thought and govern himself and his surroundings harmoniously. Our acts inevitably correspond to our thinking, and result from the thoughts we entertain either consciously or unconsciously.
