Christian Science was introduced...

Christian Science was introduced to me when, discouraged and disheartened, I had abandoned extensive but unavailing medical aid. I began the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, not for healing, for I knew nothing of its efficacy, but rather in deference to the kindness of a friend. I understood very little of this first reading; but, to my boundless joy, I glimpsed the fact that God speaks to us, if we will but listen. And I, who had been greatly in doubt of a heavenly Father, read and reread portions of the text-book, eagerly listening. Spiritual understanding began to unfold, and I was learning to rely on God and His all-goodness. Entirely through this earnest reading of Science and Health, I was healed in rapid succession of various troubles. The need of a drug for rest and sleep was overcome. The use of this drug had given me a great sense of shame. I was healed of neurasthenia, distressing thumpings in my head, eczema, attacks of sneezing accompanied by fever, and many other difficulties. I was also healed of eyestrain, putting aside glasses which I had worn for about twenty years.

I am deeply grateful for all these physical healings, but for the mental peace, the indescribable peace which is ours when we seek refuge "in the secret place of the most High," I give most humble thanks to the teachings of Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Alice J. Jacobson, New York, New York.
