Though I was brought up to believe...

Though I was brought up to believe that God sends disease, yet in a little corner of my heart I had a feeling that He was a merciful God. And though medical science pronounces certain diseases incurable, I had the conviction that somewhere, somehow, there must be something to cure every malady in this world. My prayer for this "something" was answered with Christian Science.

I was very sick with a fibroma, which caused me much trouble and inconvenience because I had to be away from the office three or four days every month. I went to see several doctors and they were all of the opinion that an operation would be the only means of relief. With great resignation I prayed to God and said, "O Lord, if this is the only way, I am willing; but I know, if Thou wilt, Thou canst deliver me." And my prayer was heard, thanks to Him, the living fountain of all good. A short while afterwards a lady next door handed me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and told me if I read it I should get well. I very eagerly began to study it, and with the help of a practitioner the tumor vanished into nothingness. Not only was I cured of that disease, but also of heart trouble and stomach trouble of many years' standing. Today I enjoy the best of health, thanks to God and my understanding of Christian Science.

With my heart full of gratitude I thank the Almighty for having revealed this Science to Mrs. Eddy, and for making it possible for everybody to partake of its blessings. I am also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for so faithfully presenting this revelation to humanity.
