With a heart full of gratitude towards God I wish to testify to my healing through Christian Science.

In the spring of 1929 I was taken with larynx trouble. Since I knew nothing of Christian Science at that time, I asked for medical treatment. Although several specialists sincerely tried to help me and I stayed at the North Sea several times for a cure, my condition did not improve, but rather grew worse, so that I almost gave up hope. This condition lasted for about two and a half years. One of the physicians advised an operation. However, at this point, in the hour of my greatest need, relatives drew my attention to Christian Science. After some opposition I attended a Sunday service. Its beautiful simplicity impressed me very much, and with joy I found that the passages read had sound reason and must be true. A very kind practitioner, whom I went to see, gave me more reason to hope. Through a few treatments which were given me, my condition improved, but no immediate healing resulted.

I earnestly studied the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I had purchased in the meantime, and soon came to the conclusion that I could be saved in no other way. I also attended the Wednesday evening meetings. I listened eagerly to the reading, and from the testimonies learned that I too could apply and prove Christian Science. I now declared for myself the truth concerning my problem of illness, and also concerning the temptations to sin. Thus my character was purified little by little, and as a result my trouble also slowly disappeared, and health and greater joy were established.
