God Is Reflected

Spiritualization of thought, which comes about through the study of Christian Science, reveals God's infinitude, His all-power and all-presence, and man as His reflection. Help, comfort, and blessing are attained as this divine relationship is realized; quicker and better demonstrations are made, for the lesson of humility is being learned, and this is always a progressive step.

We find a very valuable field of study in both the Concordances to the writings of Mary Baker Eddy in reference to the words reflect, reflects, reflection, and reflected. May we endeavor to gain more light on this important subject in order to prove that we understand what has been revealed to the author, of the might and power of Spirit.

Jesus proved by his works that he reflected God in every thought and act, by the words that he uttered, and by his healing of sin and sickness. Both disease and death disappeared before his conscious reflection of God's presence. Recognizing and acknowledging the practical power of true reflection, he declared, "Without me ye can do nothing;" and, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." Christ Jesus knew God to be the Father of all, and therefore that creation is wholly spiritual. He saw man as Mind's idea; he realized that Spirit is the only substance, that Life is divine, and that Love is all-embracing and all-inclusive. Students of Christian Science have the same privilege of utilizing revealed Truth; they too may be eternally aware of the infinitude of goodness, and declare with confidence and assurance that there is no evil and no believer in evil, in matter, sickness, or pain, for, as Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 478), "That only is real which reflects God." "No man hath seen God at any time," we read in John's Gospel. We all know that God is seen in His manifestation, His ideas, which partake of His divine nature, and which are never material, but always immortal and incorporeal. We see our human selves as we look in a mirror. The form, life, and activity of the original are reflected in the mirror. Constantly to look into the mirror of divine Science for our every thought and word and action ensures spiritual growth. Then we learn to express only that which is Godlike, and to see others also as divine ideas, not as material personalities.
