Mrs. Eddy writes in the textbook, Science and Health...

Mrs. Eddy writes in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 256): "Progress takes off human shackles. The finite must yield to the infinite. Advancing to a higher plane of action, thought rises from the material sense to the spiritual, from the scholastic to the inspirational, and from the mortal to the immortal." After a period of rather vague study of Science and Health, I was awakened, by the above statement, to the true spiritual basis of thought which one must strive to gain in order to understand God.

I had been seeking Truth for some years in various religions and cults, and they had all failed me. Alone in my search, yearning for liberation, I realized that I must persevere to gain my freedom, for on every side there were obstacles, and all hope seemed gone. There will ever remain in my memory the joy and love I realized at the first Christian Science testimony meeting I attended, when there came the assurance that my desire would be answered and fulfilled. I continued to attend the services and studied the textbook and the literature. Thoughts were purified, circumstances and surroundings improved, and almost unconsciously progress was made. I had been told that I could not live longer than another six months, owing to my refusal to have another mastoid operation. Revealed Truth proved this verdict to be false.

Numerous healings have been mine, instantaneous and otherwise, including those of scalded leg, internal inflammation, acute bronchitis, and restricted throat; also, I have gained an understanding of how to solve daily problems in my work and my contact with others. I now realize that it is possible to express the qualities of Mind in the daily routine, and my rejoicing and gratitude are great. Christian Science has enabled me to perform tasks which humanly seemed impossible.
