In reply to "Truth's" letter in a recent issue, I would...

Witness,

In reply to "Truth's" letter in a recent issue, I would point out that it is material sense which testifies to the seeming reality of sin, disease, and death, and that such conditions cannot on that account be regarded as any part of God's creation. The human senses have frequently been proved unrealiable. For instance, men once thought that the earth was flat and that the sun moved around the earth; and on many occasions they have been led astray by a desert mirage. In some way or other these illusions have been uncovered and destroyed. Similarly, the Christ, Truth, as revealed in the teachings of Christian Science, has enabled mankind to find release from its sufferings and sorrows, its fears and its failures.

May I reiterate the statement in my previous letter that Christian Scientists have found a practical religion in which opinion and dogma are replaced by proof and demonstration. Only as they continuously and devotedly practice their religion are they worthy to be called Christian Scientists. The excellent advice of Gamaliel, as recorded in the fifth chapter of Acts, verses 38 and 39, may be commended to all.
