Urgent
International Distribution of Literature
The branches of The Mother Church in countries where men are mobilized for participation in the war now going on in Europe are doing what they can to supply Christian Science literature to enlisted men who are in training, as well as to those who are in active service, and who have an interest in Christian Science. Many inquiries indicate a need for assistance in this work, and in an effort to help meet this urgent need The Mother Church will furnish a part of the literature required.
As stated in the announcement which appeared in the Sentinel of December 16, 1939, headed "Christian Science Literature International Distribution Fund," this newly established fund is "to be used for distributing authorized Christian Science literature in countries where combatants or civilians are mobilized or congregated," and for continuing to supply literature to the branches of The Mother Church in German because they cannot now pay for it. As stated also in the original announcement, if and when the fund is no longer required, any balance then remaining in it will be transferred to the Relief Fund of The Mother Church. The contributions to this new fund have not yet been sufficient, however, to enable The Mother Church to be of much assistance in furnishing literature to the committees of Christian Scientists in countries at war, which are doing what they can toward supplying our literature to the men.
Christian Scientists throughout the world who desire to have a part in providing authorized Christian Science literature to the mobilized forces and civilians in countries at war who are prevented from receiving the literature through the usual channels, are invited to send contributions for the Christian Science Literature International Distribution Fund, without naming particular countries whose citizens they desire their contributions to benefit, to Edward L. Ripley, Treasurer, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
