Christian Science has been my only help for the past fifteen years. I have experienced so many healings through its study and application that I hardly know where to begin to tell of them. One, however, which was a slow healing, may help and encourage others.

Before I became interested in Christian Science, I was suffering from a severe form of stomach trouble. At different times I had consulted four physicians, who had prescribed many kinds of treatment which I had followed according to directions, but with no lasting benefit. Upon first attending a Sunday service in a Christian Science church I felt a sense of peace I had not known before, so I started to read Science and Health, also the other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, and had Christian Science treatment. While I was not healed of the trouble for five years, I soon had ample proofs that Christian Science heals, because our little daughter was healed of so-called children's diseases and of a birthmark on her forehead, and I had healings and demonstrations in many other ways.

Later the stomach trouble became alarming, and I was very much discouraged. When I could see no way out, I prayed that God would show me what to do. After a few days of struggling alone, as it seemed, I was again led to ask help of a practitioner. I began to have new courage and faith after the first treatment. I soon gained thirty-five pounds in weight, while severe pains and other symptoms disappeared. I lost my fear of food, and became strong enough to do the work in our home. I then decided to get along without further treatment. Several weeks later I found myself suffering from severe internal hemorrhage, so help was again requested, and absent treatment continued throughout the night. When it seemed that I was losing consciousness, the telephone was brought to my bed, and I heard these words: "You cannot get away from God." The practitioner voiced this statement with such conviction and authority that I at once began to reason that God is Life, and that Life is expressed by man, who could not be unconscious; therefore I, being God's child, could not lose my life or become unconscious. This statement from Science and Health (p. 14) came to me: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth." I rested in this truth and fell asleep. When I awakened several hours later I was completely and permanently healed. This was over ten years ago, and I have since enjoyed excellent health.
