Completing the Healing

Christian Scientists understand that healing of disease is accomplished through realization of spiritual truth, as revealed in Christian Science. This Science, in conformity with the Scriptures, shows that God, good, constitutes and includes all real being; that He is All-in-all. As Moses declared, "The Lord he is God; there is none else beside him." By this revelation, Christian Science discloses that sickness, being evil and unlike God, is unreal. Instead of being the stubborn reality it has appeared to be in human experience, it is in every instance an illusion, and is with scientifically as such.

Like any illusion—like a dream in sleep, for example—sickness seems to fulfill its own conditions; it seems to manifest itself on the body, and so to present corroborating evidence of itself. But the fact remains that illusion, a false mental sense, is all there is to it. And for this reason, the true sense, the realization of spiritual truth in place of the falsity, scientifically heals disease.

Mrs. Eddy states the method concisely when, in referring to the healing work of Christ Jesus, she writes that he "beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals," and adds that "this correct view of man healed the sick" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pp. 476, 477). The incorrect view, itself illusory and unreal, was all that ever had been wrong, and the correct view quite naturally healed it, as it does today.
