The writer of the article, "Spiritual Healing," in a recent issue, makes an incorrect statement in regard to the manner in which people who depend on the ministrations of Christian Science are cared for. In reply, I would point out that Christian Science teaches the method of healing employed by Christ Jesus. He healed by spiritual means only. One of the reasons for the growth and progress of the teachings of Christian Science throughout the world is that this method of healing is found to be efficacious. A person who relies upon Christian Science for healing is not merely allowed to suffer, as the writer of the article suggests. On the contrary, he would receive treatment from a Christian Science practitioner and, if necessary, be cared for by a Christian Science nurse. I would add that a great number of Christian Scientists have been healed of so-called incurable diseases by the healing ministrations of Christian Science, after medical and other methods of healing had failed to effect a cure.
