The Complete and Universal Appeal of Truth
In his letter to the Philippian Christian workers, Paul included this benediction: "The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Being an invocation of God's blessing upon the followers of Christ, Truth, it may be said that this benediction rests upon everyone who supports the activities of the Christian Science movement. Every function of this Cause is directed towards the gaining of a clearer understanding of our Father-Mother God and of man in His image and likeness, and to the spread and demonstration of the Science of being.
In her vital contribution to the world, Mary Baker Eddy presented the true concept of God as All-in-all, as the self-existent Father-Mother of all. Emphasizing the spiritual and true creation, as recorded in Genesis, she taught that the real man is the complete reflection of God, expressing all His qualities. It follows that spiritual man expresses both the masculine and the feminine qualities of God, who is Mother as well as Father.
On page 57 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "Union of the masculine and feminine qualities constitutes completeness." In a subsequent statement (ibid., p. 64), referring to the resurrection, when Soul shall "rejoice in its own," she adds, "Then white-robed purity will unite in one person masculine wisdom and feminine love, spiritual understanding and perpetual peace."
