Since childhood I have enjoyed the privilege of reading the testimonies in the Christian Science Sentinel, which have always been a great inspiration to me. For many years, I have endeavored to use in my everyday life the truths taught in Christian Science; they have protected me from disease and discord of every description. Thus I have proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words about the prophylactic art of Christian Science (Science and Health, p. 369).
I have also had definite proofs of the healing power of Christian Science. One instance which stands out vividly was the healing of blood poisoning. I had pricked my finger slightly with a pin, and had thought very little about it until the finger began to stiffen and turn black. For a moment I was overcome with fear. I rushed to a Christian Science friend, who at the time was living in the same building where I was rooming. She quieted me to the extent that I was able to return to my own room and work the problem out as we are taught to do in Christian Science. The statement (Science and Health, p. 539), "God could never impart an element of evil, and man possesses nothing which he has not derived from God," planted my feet on a firm foundation.
