Can we inform the perfect MindOf aught He has not yet bestowedOf blessings—more than we accept?Can we unfold a tale of woeTo ears of Love, who only knowsA universe of harmony?Nay, close the lips, and shut the door,That thou mayest better audience giveTo higher thoughts of wisdom, truth,And know thyself already blest,With all the Father can bestowUpon His child, His perfect man.And then, in humbleness of heart,Acknowledge Him as Lord, and learnTo give what He doth ask of thee.
