Substantiality

Can we inform the perfect Mind
Of aught He has not yet bestowed
Of blessings—more than we accept?
Can we unfold a tale of woe
To ears of Love, who only knows
A universe of harmony?
Nay, close the lips, and shut the door,
That thou mayest better audience give
To higher thoughts of wisdom, truth,
And know thyself already blest,
With all the Father can bestow
Upon His child, His perfect man.
And then, in humbleness of heart,
Acknowledge Him as Lord, and learn
To give what He doth ask of thee.
