I should like to express my appreciation of Christian Science,...

I should like to express my appreciation of Christian Science, the periodicals, and the practitioner who helped us, by telling of an experience we had a few years ago.

My husband has his own business, and not enough work was coming in to meet expenses, nor had we any other income. For many weeks there was less than a dollar a week for groceries.

For several years I had been subscribing to the periodicals, and one day when I received the notice that the subscription was due, I wondered what I should do, for I had not one cent with which to pay the bill. At the time, it seemed that I needed the periodicals more than ever, for I had always received much good from them, especially from The Christian Science Monitor. I decided to go over everything carefully to see if there was something I had not done which should have been done. I knew I had been faithful in subscribing to and thoroughly reading all the periodicals, taking them on the quarterly payment plan. We were both careful in reading the literature not to soil or tear it, for we turned it in each week at the church to be used for free distribution. We had always been prompt in paying for the literature, never letting the subscription lapse. I then decided that the problem must be solved through trusting God's direction, and went about my work. About twenty minutes later I received a call to go to work that night, for which I received five dollars, the amount necessary to pay the bill. I was happy to send it to the Publishing Society the next day.
