More than twenty years ago my interest in Christian Science...
More than twenty years ago my interest in Christian Science was aroused through association with one who was a living witness to Truth. This friend never mentioned Science, but the spiritual quality of her thinking, and the deeds which resulted therefrom, made me see that this Science is a great power for good in human experience. My gratitude has always been great for this beautiful example of Christian living, which led me to accept Christian Science as my friend and guide to life eternal. Soon after beginning the study of this Science I was healed of a spinal difficulty, which had greatly limited me in my work, and at the same time I was relieved permanently of a fear of tuberculosis. I was also healed of a distressing sense of mental depression.
From the beginning of my interest in Christian Science I have had many proofs of the power of Mind to destroy beliefs in the ills which seem to be a constant threat to human existence. On one occasion I was quickly raised from a serious condition of acute pain and helplessness, through the work of a practitioner. A number of years ago an opportunity presented itself for me to make a decided change of profession. Through my relying absolutely upon Christian Science as a never-failing guide, the change was made quickly and successfully, although a high degree of technical skill was required in the new activity.
The study of Christian Science has also given me a greater understanding and appreciation of Spirit as substance. Several years ago it was my privilege to become associated with a group of friends who were interested in a worthy charitable project for children. A large amount was needed to pay for the completion of a new building, but no funds appeared to be available, although the usual efforts for raising such funds had been tried. In this instance, consecrated prayer and earnest affirmations of Truth quickly opened a way whereby sufficient funds were made available; and this project was completed, again proving that "the Lord hath been mindful of us."
