Christian Science came into my life over five years ago, when my mother was so ill with what was diagnosed as cancer that all help of the physicians was in vain. We were most unhappy, but we believed in God, and in deepest despair my sister, who had become interested in Christian Science, found the address of a practitioner in Prague. We called on her and were so kindly received that we felt relieved from the sense of darkness. The practitioner promised to work for my mother, and that night we slept without fear. To the great astonishment of all about us, my mother was healed.

Since that time we all have studied very diligently the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. It was of great benefit to us that these lessons were being translated into Czech, because at that time it was the only tongue we knew.

Not long ago I experienced the healing power of Christian Science. I was taken very ill with grippe, and at first felt myself quite unable to do mental work as we are taught in Christian Science. The practitioner having left Prague, a sense of self-pity tried to convince me that I was lonely and helpless. But I overcame this sense and opened my Bible to the comforting words of Isaiah, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee." I realized that if God, my beloved Father and Friend, was with me, I did not need anything else. I had read passages from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy with increasing understanding and comfort for about two hours, when all symptoms vanished and I found myself completely healed.
