A doctor is reported to have made statements regarding Christian Science which could have been based only on a misapprehension of the subject.

One charge is that "the system ... denies the whole gamut of the Christian faith." On the contrary, a whole chapter of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is devoted to "Atonement and Eucharist." Besides this, two of the six Tenets to which all Christian Scientists subscribe and which are to be found in this book read as follows (p. 497): "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life. ... And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure."

There is no need for controversy as to whether Christian Science heals organic disease or not. It is a generally accepted fact.
