I have been a student of Christian Science for about...
I have been a student of Christian Science for about nineteen years. When quite a young woman I sought it for physical healing while suffering from a chronic intestinal and bowel trouble said to be of a very serious nature. My healing was such a revelation to me that I eagerly read and studied "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy to fine an answer to my many questions; and I have never been tempted to turn away from the teachings of Christian Science.
I should like to express gratitude for a more recent healing. Over three years ago I suffered a nervous breakdown. Many distressing conditions presented themselves at that time, the most painful and alarming were severe pains and soreness in the back and head, accompanied by dizziness, making it very difficult to get about. This healing was slow, and many days were spent in endeavoring to rejoice and to keep discouragement out. Many faults were uncovered and destroyed, as I became more consecrated in my study and application of our Leader's teachings. Conditions that mortal belief claims inevitable at a certain age were destroyed. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for this healing, and for the freedom that has come to me; also to the faithful practitioners and friends who stood by in my hour of need.
A prayerful study of the Psalms was a great help at this time, also passages from Science and Health would stand out like beacons of light. One that was especially helpful is found on page 63: "In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being."
