Regeneration, rebirth, a desire to search the Scriptures,...

Regeneration, rebirth, a desire to search the Scriptures, and many physical healings are the results of my study of Christian Science. It was a "larger thought of God," as expressed in one of our beautiful hymns, that I needed. This new-old truth was presented to me in the beginning of 1921, at a time when all that seemed dear to me was being taken from my home, leaving me desolate. I have since learned how much I needed this trial.

After I had read only a few chapters of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the realization came that it was what I had been hungering for, and I heard a voice which said: "Go and take the little book. ... Take it, and eat it up." The sweetness and bitterness have been tasted, but not one experience would I have missed.

After I had read for a few hours, all care and sense of responsibility for my dear ones seemed to be lifted from me. At the end of about three weeks I realized that neuritis in my arm, from which I had suffered for some years and for which I had tried all kinds of medical treatment, had been forgotten; and it has never returned. I am truly grateful for this healing and many others, including that of a sprained ankle in a few minutes, a tendency to attacks of influenza and neuralgia, astigmatism of the eyes on account of which I had worn glasses when reading for some years, faults of character, false appetites, self-will, and self-pity.
